Our Sustainability and Environmental Ethos
We work in some of the UK’s most stunning and ecologically sensitive climbing environments. These natural spaces have been shaped over millennia, and we believe it’s essential to protect them and all of nature for future generations. However, the effects of climate change and human impact are increasingly affecting these areas, and as a climbing company, we take our role in preserving them seriously.
Our guiding ethos is rooted in environmental responsibility, and we’re committed to doing everything we can to reduce our environmental footprint. While we can’t eliminate all sources of emissions from outdoor activities, we work hard to mitigate our impact and invest in projects that help protect the planet.
Our sustainability commitments are:
WE DONATE TO NONPROFIT CLIMATE CHARITIES
We are committed to supporting climate action efforts. To help offset our carbon impact, we donate £2 per person on every activity to nonprofit climate charities. These donations go directly to organizations focused on driving positive environmental change, and we are proud to support their work in protecting the planet. For 2025 we are donating to the Clean air taskforce.
Public Transport
We want to help you make your climbing trips as sustainable as possible, to do this we offer advice on how to travel to your climbing location using public transport where possible. The Lakes has good transport links from lots of major cities. Our guides can usually collect people from their accommodation and are generally happy to pick you up from local transport hubs, thereby reducing the number of vehicles on the roads and minimising the impacts on any car parks that are used.
SUSTAINABLE GEAR AND BANKING
Our climbing gear and clothes are sourced from sustainable suppliers. We mainly use climbing clothing and gear from Arcteryx and Patagonia. Arcteryx creates high quality gear which can withstand years of abuse, reducing waste. Whilst Patagonia donates 1 percent of sales to environmental causes and actively supports climate initiatives. Both try to use recycled materials in their products.
Sustainability is a journey which we are committed to.
Through these efforts and continual improvements, we aim to reduce our impact and ensure that the climbing experience we offer remains sustainable and responsible.
